I took a few pictures of the entries relatively early on the Saturday of the con so unfortunately I may have missed some entries that were put in the case later on in the afternoon, so apologies if I missed your figure! (I'm certain there were a couple I missed that were there the next day sadly).
Without further delay:
This was a terrible picture with bad glare because a door was open facing the cabinet. Overall this was a pretty cool take on a Cephalyx monstrosity. I liked the blue/grey skin that was well blended. |

Forgeworld dragon, I believe. I've never actually seen that particular model anywhere but on the Net, but I'm pretty sure that's one of their offerings, and not a scratch build.
ReplyDeleteDo you know if they took some closeup pics of the winners and posted them somewhere? Hard to make out just how good they are, but I understand those weren't ideal conditions for photography.
I never had a chance to view Alex's diorama in person at GottaCon (I believe it was 2 years ago?) before he was asked to reclaim it. I understand why though... GottaCon (unlike some other cons I've been to) has a pretty high female to male ratio, plus quite a few parents with their kids. That, and there is pretty good media coverage. Stuff like that can be a distraction, and detract from the professional image of the event in question. It is a bit misogynist in theme too, so while it may appeal to some, it'll certainly offend many others (doesn't really help the image of gaming / painting as a mature art form).
But at a small event, with none of the factors listed above? If that's what floats your boat...
Oh, and congrats on the win!! Well deserved, I think.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the time I won the overall award at a 40K tournament that was called, "The Big Ass 40K Tournament". This meant that for years afterwards, people liked to joke that I won the "Big Ass" award.
Congrats! Love the new tweaked gold recipe, you PAINT MASTER!
